joe1600 Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 So what got You guys n gals out there into OSF's ???? for me it was my dad always having Fords around when I was a kid n the fact i got taken for a ride in a RS1600 rally car when i was 8.
evil knievel Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 My dads Mk2 Transit's I always loved cars, but it was bikes in my early teens. I crashed one last year and got much more into cars, bought a capri and it went on from there. I think it's mainly to do with being around them as a kid.
evil knievel Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 saw a capri and instantly wanted it That for me too
X-pack-Glyn Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Dad again... mk1 tina,s and pre crossflows and twin cams.
D-FENS Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 I learnt to drive in a mk2 escort and my first car was a mk2 cortina that my dad gave me ,a 1600 deluxe. That was nearly 30 years ago and i allways loved mk2 1600e cortinas in aubergine or gold that i remembered from my youth. Then about 6-7 years ago i brought a aubergine 1600e tina SJF 60G and that was me back into OSFs .
radar tech Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 my dad bein on the ford works rally team in the sixties . my first mk1 escy brought with my paper round money when i was 11 and havent looked back since
JP. Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 My first car was a 10 year old '79 fezzy and I bascily never went out of that era conserning cars and I allways came back to Ford. While sticking to that era my cars became Ol Skool................. Still don't like new cars, they all look the same. while Ill drive my capper, people are turning their heads, children are pointing, granny's are dreaming.................... Ill guess if I drive a new car non of this all will happen....
100edave Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 My Dads guilty on that one because we are in the motor trade we used to have loads of OSF around, and i always remember going sideways in some of them
Dale Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 i came across the fiesta cheap. and the colours matched a jacket i was wearing. before that i was planning on a 106 for my 1st car odd thing is. my dad at my age went to look at a fiesta sandpiper for his 1st car just 3 miles away from where i got mine another funny thing... mum learnt to drive in a white MK1 fiesta that had trouble going into 1st and 2nd... just like mine
Mr2Caps Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Always been into cars of one sort or another, I'll admit to being influenced by the professionals, which alerted me to capris! Made my dad buy two before I could drive! Had a large car accident when I was 18 in a MG Metro, decided I needed something with a bigger bonnet! Perfect excuse for my own Capri then, never been without at least one since!
Spanner_monkey Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Iv always been into cars ever since I was little. Recently I got a house with a big garden and garage and wanted to start learning (and hopefuly racing!) Iv liked old fords for years. The first car I can remember is my dads mk1 fiesta giha. So I got into old fords and thats where I intend to stay!
Jiffer Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 with me it was the fact all my mates had crx's and 205gti's so i wanted to be different and got a mk2 1600deluxe cortina and atempted to tune the balls out of it, never happened, lack of cash and talent, not much has changed in 20 years
Dale Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 haha yeah... nothing like trying to beat the plastics
Admin Vista Posted November 14, 2009 Admin Report Posted November 14, 2009 They were still relatively new school fords when I got my first escort in 1985. I liked it because it was cheap, a mk1 2 door escort for £60
bigglesmk2 Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 My dad allways bought and sold stuff when i was growing up ,mostly fords. I wanted a capri at first but when i past my test my brother had a 1.1 mk2 escort sat under a tree for years with RS wheels, seats and spoilers ,kind of a no brainer really and went from there ...i did eventually end up owning afew capris too
OldskoolSue Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 My mum and my brother always had capri's so i guess i was always destined to have one
tb_escort Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 It was my dad, but not in the way you'd think! His 40th birthday (and my cousins 21st) we all went to phil price rally school, and near the end of the day my dad arranged for me to have a blast in one of the mk2 escorts (i was 13 at the time) and that was it, after half an hour of sliding it round the track (the instructor/tutor that came with me said i had the best clutch control and i could hold the slide very well, and that was when i was 13!!!) i decided i wanted on. Even though i haven't actually got one yet, it won't be long, one of my friends, girlfriends, grandads friends is selling a mk rs2000 (flat front) VERY cheap because he's emigrating to New Zealand next month, and if he's still got it i'm having it.
mk3tina Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 i suppose ive always been a retro car type of person, im into things from the 70's and 80's so cars from those times suit my taste. i was 16 when i bought my first car (1985 1.6 laser capri for £250) and i put a lot of time into it, recently sold it but never got it on the road in the 5 years i owned it, didnt help that two years ago i bought my mk3 cortina and the capri was left untouched ever since.
Stu_B Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Seeing a mk1 escort mex come sideways out of a junction turned me onto RWD, then I wanted to be a badass & get loads of girls so I bought a Capri my mate was selling cheap
deltamal Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Re living my youth! could not afford to make them go faster then, the Corty was left to me 10 years ago, mortgage gone, kid's flown the nest, Playtime! 2.4 Cossie on nos...
Chud Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 1st memory of an OSF being driven around in the back of my Dads 2 door Mk1 Cortina in the early 70's . Then years later going in my Dads Mk2 Escort with my Bro (Daggle) to Spedeworth meets at Wimbledon and various other tracks around the country watching George Polley,Barry Lee,Duffy Collard, the Harris's,Steve and Andy Dance + various other brilliant Drivers mostly in Mk2 Escorts and Anglia's. My Dad was also a mechanic for a Spedeworth driver who was local to us called John Stone who raced Mk1 & 2 Escorts and he also helped another Driver near us called John Steward. Happy Happy days and that is why OSF's are in my blood for ever F@#k all your new cars they have no feeling or heart
RossMK2 Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 i always was into cars and about a year and a half ago my dad told me about escorts and how sucessful they where at rallying and he had a 1100l mk1 as his first car. i then had a flick through a classic ford at a whsmiths which i went and bought and watched the history of the escort on men and motors. i then got into all osf's and had both mags since. i realised prices were rising about a year ago and knew if there was any chance of having a osf is if i was quick. so i searched ebay for months and months and at the end of june i found my mk2
Mr Sam Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 had a cortina P100 as a field car and me nan got me a copy of classic ford in a charity shop for 10p.....a few months later i had my first mk1 as my first car on the road
SebringRS Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 For me it was, thinkin of a car i could do work to now, and then be my 1st car for when i could drive. My dad told me bout escorts and he showd my a pic of his 1st Mk1 1100L. And i thought tht looked really cool, then started lookin on the t'interweb and found a few on ebay, then finally this one. Maybe not the best choice for a daily, due to how expensive the insurance is gunna be for me with a 2000cc But i'l figure it out somehow
