Think I prefer the stocker! As usual with Aus customs but reversed this time, the wheels were ok but then transformed to 'full on' awful LOL.

I am partial to a stock XD myself. It has a Mk2 Granada quality to it that I think they may have been designed by the same person.

That was my first thought - stance is nice, assume there is a V8 in there? Ideal grocery getter!

They came in 3.3 and 4.1L 6 cylinder Engines and also 302 and 351 V8s. Its hard to say what the first one is without its proper wing badging but im guessing its a 351 like the other two.

I don’t know locked up in a nice posh showroom and some Pratt’s knocked the front off it 🤭🤭🤭

With its Mexico stripes and its RS2000 logos I wondered if it was a Mexico with a 2lt engine or an RS2000 with the nose taken off?

Don't care what the blurb says - Unless its of Australian heritage its not a Flat Front RS2000! It is a 2.0L Mexico.

I don't deny its a nice car - just not a RS2000! Other than Aus, no flat front RS2000's were produced anywhere for road use, purely homologated competition use!

Why Ford choose not to fit a BDG engine to an RS1800 is a mystery that would have obviated all this crap is anyones guess LOL!

Well said that man, tbh it’s just the normal bullshit with the RS tax

it should have started if it was an RS2000, we screwed that bit up but we’ve made look very pretty and misleading you into it’s an original style of car

Although still a stunning build, the paint code on the chassis plate is 9. This is for Signal Yellow.

A 1979 Signal Orange should read 0.  Signal Amber was also available on a Mexico.

Chassis number is a GCAT. I know that the RS2000 started with this, but not sure if a Mexico did.

Still a nice car though and I would proudly keep my Humbugs in a tin in the centre console. 😁

Yes, it seems to be a very nice RS2000.  Take a look in the engine bay. Wow!

Is it not a flat front RS2000 then?

Woops, did I open a can of worms with this one? Sorry Chaps. I didn't read the blurb initially just posted cause it looked nice. I wasnt even sure if it was genuine. The fine stripe looked Mexico to me but with the RS2000 logo where Mexico usually is on the flanks. So it was either a replica of sorts, a RS2000 thats been converted to flat front or a Mexico with a bigger engine? (Aus Car - Its definitely not one of ours).

Even if you read the blurb I find it a bit confusing. Reference to Mk1 RS1800's and that its absolutely concours under the bonnet? Stunningly finished certainly but barely a sign of originality under there? Then there was the part that made me chuckle about all the kids going crazy cause they know exactly what it is when we end up having to debate it! LOL Lastly was the prediction that prices for these are about to go through the roof implying that this is a bargain about to explode? Hahahaha Its not really a prediction after the fact!

Its a stunning car but if it is genuine as Dale has confirmed it would be equally as stunning and more valuable with its nose reinstated. I dont mind a bit of behind the scenes upgrading to fix some original deficiencies and if the flat front is for you then get a genuine Mexico and sneak a 2lt into it (which most seem to do) but making an RS2000 to look like a Mexico with such a high finish seems a bit counterproductive to me.  I am curious as to its sale price?

The term concours is regularly abused and is often used to mean "mint condition" when it fact it means "mint original condition".

For me it's a lovely car and I'd be happy with it on my drive flat front or with nose cone.

You really want an Orange flat fronted RS2000 sitting in your driveway? Madness!
