I was thinking of putting 4 X spots on the escort. Thought I would be different and fitted a 20 inch LED  light bar recessed into the front grill. The entire kit was less than £25 and the lighting is amazing.

Will get some pictures later but it is discrete and better spread of light. The kit I bought came with  loom, switch and relay. Really pleased. Now I just need to sort the tired engine.

The engines not tired. It's just having a whiff. 😀

I went to Mike Harris today (Joe Lyons) and he thinks it's more head related. He is going to pop over and have look and listen with cam cover off. The bottom end does need a refresh and noted a 2.1 recon short engine on eBay.

Had my first complaint tonight relating to the escort. The doris opposite could not sleep as the lights fully illuminated her bedroom lol. She does make me tea and keep an eye on the garage though.

Yes, it's definitely breathing heavy. Agree there's that metallic noise up top, which might be obvious with the rocker off, which we obviously didn't remove. 😀

There's a breakfast meet over Aberdare this Sunday morning. Weather looks good so far and they do belting bacon sandwiches.

if you painted everything behind the grill black as  well as the screws for the light, and made the ford badge chrome/ silver, and painted the lower grill black, imho that would look the nuts

What current drain are the LED's? Is it very high, or the same as normal Cibies, Hellas Etc.?

LED's draw considerably less than halogen type bulbs eg. an H4 LED is rated 18/18w as opposed to H4 halogen 55/60w with equal light output.

That's why I was wondering what the current draw on 520w LEDs was in real terms. I'm tired and cannot do the maths.😂

With the engine ticking over the voltmeter shows 13.9 v. When the lights are on the volts drop to 13.6 and then back to 13.9.

I have them on a switch and relay. The kit I bought came with the relay, switch and wiring loom and was a plug and play job.

Sticking my neck on the block here but i'd say that that light bar is not drawing 520w but is emitting 520w equivalent! Even then from the picture, I doubt its anywhere close to that ie. does it look close to output from 6x Cibie Oscars?

I know camera's are good looking at super bright objects but with that claimed power the rest of the picture should be virtually blacked out? I've no gripe with the product and the OP is obviously happy with it, its with the sharp marketing wordage . . . . . bit like the 'one million candle power flashlamp' - how do ordinary people prove / disprove it ?

Are you sure its not meant at 520 Lumens? With most LED's they rate them in Lumens rather than watts. If not that then a 520 watt equivalency would be the next most likely scenario.

The thing to look at here is mainly current draw, which will be considerably lower with LEDs. With this in mind, the alternator will also be not be working as hard as it would with a traditional halogen type bulb.

Old adage if you can be arsed to do the maths:

(Ohms Law) Volts, Amps, Resistance = Virgins Are Rare.

(Power Triangle) Watts, Amps, Voltage = What Are Virgins.

Good App I use (pro version) when needing to work out wire, fuse or resistor sizes is:

I'm pretty pants at maths, so this helps me out a lot.

Feck! I wished I'd never asked, I just wanted to know how many LED Watts (as advertised), or most likely Lumens, is equal to an old school 100 watt spotlight bulb.

An incandescent old school 100w domestic light bulb is about 1500 Lumens. 520 Lumens is around 8 or 9 watts in an LED\
