OSF Contributor Mexican Gerbil Posted November 29, 2021 OSF Contributor Report Posted November 29, 2021 Hi all, after a couple of gap years, we are back planning Tour Of The Moor 2022. If you are new to the forum, we hold our own event down in the South West over a weekend. A mix of driving, treasure hunt, pub quiz social event for family's. Historically we have camped on the edge of Dartmoor at a family adventure park. However, After being away for 2 years, the price of holding a June Tour has risen to the piont where we don't feel confident we would make a successful event. My question is, if we can make it more cost effective would you attend a mid May event? 13-15 May specifically. May is already filling up with events and this is really the only option for us.
Admin Vista Posted November 29, 2021 Admin Report Posted November 29, 2021 To give some further background, it's the cost of camping at the river Dart Country Park that we perceive as the problem. In past years we have been offered a discount rate with no additional cost for extra bodies above the 2 inclusive guests that each pitch includes. This year however, no discount available unless we attend earlier or later, i.e. May or September. To attend in June or July (we were looking at weekend of 1st to 3rd of July) the Pitches are £41.00 per night, this includes the first 2 persons. Additional persons are £12.00 each per night. Any and all feedback welcome.

Some of us are close to Dartmoor but we've had people come down from Scotland and Yorkshire, across from Surrey and North and East of London. How far you want to come is entirely up to you. As to camping facilities. It's a lovely site with excellent facilities, both for camping and for entertainment. Check out the River Dart Country Park website 1

Check out the River Dart Country Park website Given I can never attend I like to take a look to see the nice places you guys get to visit but I just trawled that site and apart from a few vague header pictures they dont seem to show a single proper photo of any part of the place! Im probably missing something, it shows all the info but you get no feeling of what the place is actually like?

There's enough Aussies down there clogging up the surf beaches - they don't want to encourage more of you ! ! ! LOL!

LOL! Plebs who lived outside beach council areas havent even been allowed to go to the beach here! All in the name of virus safety of course nothing political at all. Extra freedoms that were given to all Conservative coastal seats compared to Labour suburban ones is purely coincidental cause that would be an abuse of power and politicians are too honest for that. (Choke)

DT36 Posted December 1, 2021 Report Posted December 1, 2021 Does everyone who attends bring their cars and complete the tour or do some just do the camping side?

To date everyone who has attended and camped has brought a Classic Ford......but one year one participant decided that his kids were enjoying the park so much that they were going to skip the tour on the Saturday. 1
