X-pack-Glyn Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 You look at yer OSF like and think, fook it il buy something sensible and modern instead.
RFChris Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Thinking about selling the Tincorner....... .....but only because we are so hard up at the mo its beyond a joke. I'll chop in the Vectra before is sell the beige monster though. Chris
Gonzo Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 If I had one, the answer to that question would always be, 'But where's the fun in that?' same answer i get when I ask myself if I should give up 'biking.
andrewg1323 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Only thing swaing me towards a moden motor is trhe MPG of a modern diesel Picking another cpari tomorrow so thinking once the zetecs done in my current cpari i;m gonna make a super fuel efficient diesel capri
orionmojo Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 i couldn't use one as a daily. i do about 600 miles a week sometimes less/more etc etc. if you get past the hideous fuel bills that would produce you've got the parts and maintenance. i'm just extremly lucky to be able to have one as a toy.
Daveyboy20 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I think the set bakcs are part of the 'fun'. Its very hard to beleive that when its all goin tits up but when sorted you dont half feel good. plus it measn every journey you have to make is actually fun! I drive mine everyday and all over the flamin place! I put 40 odd thousand miles on the capri in a couple of years! The cortina gets me everywhere (now that its fixed!) and i genuinly look forward to drivin it, cal me sad but i even opt to be designated driver so that i can drive to and from the pub! (yeah as i was typin that i realised, that is sad......)

fezza Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Im also lucky enough to have mine as toy so not really a problem for me,not sure i could have one as a daily driver so i see how people could think along those lines sometimes
atomic punk Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I have used OSF as daily driver in the past but I do a lot more motorway commuting than I used to. I'd rather drive a modern box into the ground than my Cortina Plus, all those thousands of miles in a modern car makes driving an OSF even more pleasurable My beige Escort drips condensation from the sunroof onto my head in winter that certainly wakes you up in the morning
Noodles Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 If i didnt have the escort I would be so bored, I dont want to finish it but then agian it never will be just get bigger toys for it
Supercharged Nat Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Sometimes i get sick of the all the things that need attention on mine, but then its because of everything thats been done to it... i do sometimes think that a 2nd car, something modern and reliable might be worth it, but i havent taken the plunge yet. but even then, from the hassle my mates brother, parents etc get with their modern cars, i might be just as well off to stay as i am.
Richierich Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Mines used as a daily driver, got it with 43000 on the clock just over two years ago and its just past 60000 now. Been working in a car auctions and on Tuesday it was all modern, nearly new BMW's. After driving those all day it was so nice to get back in the scort and rattle home!
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I try and drive the van most days. A few months ago I was driving it every day and relegated my car to once a week. Between 1990 and 92 I used my Anglia Saloon as a daily driver, putting 28,000 on the clock.
beu_79 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 used mine as a daily drive for the last 3 years. Moved out of uni digs with it and went for my first job interview in it. It's let me down once on the way to work in two years and managed to ring round for the bit during break fixed it during lunchtime went back and taught literacy in the afternoon. Couldn't do that in a modern car. Even when i'm spluttering through a rainy december afternoon on 3 it's all forgiven every time i walk across a car park to it and it makes me smile.
phili2000 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I drive a Crap french van all day So I will never get fed up driving my Cappa
antz Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 i did 9k in my escort in 9 months as my dail;y driver. then it went away for some work and i needed a car so i bought a vovo to play with. gives me more le-way to do stuff to the escort as i dont need it everyday now.
tonymk2wagon Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 mostly always had old skool daily drivers but when ive had late stuff as temp transport i get so bored. i hate blending in with the rest of the traffic. my escorts my only car at the mo and i do about 200 miles a week and every osf i see gives it a , makes it all worth it. . . i wouldn't have it any other way.
ever88 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I have a new car but the older I get the more I like my old fords. It's quite sad to some but I was at croft not so long back watching rally cross. there were turbo spiting Subaru and evo etc and to see a mk2 going sideways and still finishing second brought such a smile to my face. I'm probably biased but it was the only thing that looked graceful going around these bends in the mud and even though outdated and powered was still able to turn heads and surprise some. In my case I feel if I owned one as a day car I would feel compelled to try and maintain it as good as new and the way they rust this is a costly and time consuming job that just doesn't fit in the modern day. I just don't know where my time goes.
james p Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 got 2 so can use 1 when the outher goes wrong lol if i had the space and money i think i would also buy a modern reliable car too
MK2STOO Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 ive had my festa 3 weeks and im already thinkin that!! its just not the tool i need it to be!!
Nettles Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I’m bored stupid with my 2003 Focus and now find myself wanting another OSF to use while I’m working on my Anglia project. The problem is I commute 114 miles a day to work and back and I need that reliability factor. I have got a bike as well but it’s no run freezing your butt off riding through the winter months. Once the Anglia is finished I will drive it as much as possible.
Messenjah Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 use my capper a sa daily drive done 4+k miles since jan 1st
BIGKEV Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 used mine as a daily drive for the last 3 years. Moved out of uni digs with it and went for my first job interview in it.
