Rick Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 people always look suprised when i tell them im actually going to drive my car when its done.. is that wrong, im sorry i just cant spend 18 months working on it only to drive it on sunny sundays i understand theres risk of damaging it etc but surely if its driven with respect and routinely maintained it will last i understand ppl trailering their show cars about cuz they are 'for show' and if some muppet bashes there door up it or bumps it well thats just tough aint it... could happen to your 60k porsche
andrewg1323 Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Yup Cars were built with engines for driving not for sitting there looking pretty!

sab6024 Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 My Capri was my daily driver until I realised I'd put more miles on it in the first 2 years of owning it than the other 22 years put together. I still keep it roadworthy so i can take it out whenever.
viv-ashton Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 daily driver and a race car soo many escort cossie at the pod today..........and how many of them ran lightweights suppose they didnt want to get shown up by the propper escorts them people are what you call show and shine poofs! MK5 Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 yes, definitely car has engine, its made for driving she's not pretty, but she's old and out there bit like me
marky4 Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 if i worked in one place i would use mine as a daily but i need a van and work all over so can't
bronze4door Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 used my 4 door every day until i had to go to uni but i finish for the summer in two weeks and will be using the 2 door as my daily driver whilst working on the 4 door
bortaf Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 The Mk5 2.0i is me daily but i have another 2 cortys for showing
Supercharged Nat Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Hell yeah!! i use the Supercharged beast everyday, regardless of weather etc. she does me proud! i feel guilty sometimes for not having a 2nd sh!t heap to abuse, but im a student and cant afford 2 cars. so i run the capri, 230 miles from uni to home at holiday times, and around portsmouth when at uni the rest of the time. it gets abused and raced all the time and takes the punishment well, it would be an offence not to take advantage of the blown pinto wouldnt it?!
Admin Vista Posted April 22, 2007 Admin Report Posted April 22, 2007 Mine was my daily driver until I started my engine bay refurb, it'll be elevated back to that status again soon.
aden Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 mine aint too scared to leave it anywhere, well i do live in luton
mk14dr Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 mine gets used everyday I've had it a year in a week and in that time i've done about 10k length and breadth of the country. Its taken me from leeds to london to pick up 2doors (i had to take the front seats out at the side of the road to fit them in) all with the original 1.1 and 4speed box ('box has since died). Its sat outside in the work carpark for 12hrs at a time in all weathers. The way i see it is, if i look after it now its more than people did when they were new, which is why they got a reputation for tin-worm. and its been nicked, bumped, scratched and abused. OSF
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 mine was daily driver and trackday car my next one will be too thats what theyre for isnt it ? its great to see the concours ones but not my idea of fun
PaulAshman Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 I use mine most days. Just use the people carrier when shifting big loads around. Cars were made to drive so you gotta get out there and drive it.
john_3.0s Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 afraid not 170 miles a day and a 3.0 essex would mean i would be skint in 2 months
