What oldskool pushbikes did you have?

i had a few grifters (damn they hurt when you smacked your knee on the loose lamp bracket ).

also remember my modded burner chrome edition with stupid plastic mag wheels, so smart it got knicked.

and the old favourite a raliegh chopper, bloody lethal things (its down to that damn thing i have 3 capped teeth).

i had a tomahawk (small version of the chopper) and then a chopper

but they where lethal but good fun

Got a second hand chopper one xmas. Mate had a grifter. Heavier than a lot of motorbikes those bastards!

I had a Chopper and a Grifter. I used to sit on the rear wheel arch of the grifter. Thought i was rite cool.....in retrospect i probably look like a tinker lol! Ah well.....

I had a Raleigh Silver Streak racer (with FIVE speeds!). I swapped it with a mate for a blue thing (a debadged racer) with Cowhorns (remember them!). One day I was pulling a wheelie down the kerb and the front wheel dropped off. I went over the handlebars and hit the tarmac face first scraping the skin off half my face. My dad came out and instead of saying 'Are you alright?' and being concerned he said 'I'm chopping that thing up'.

 

I then got a gold Super Burner. My record for backhops was 23. One of the neighbours got a new bmx yesterday for his 14th birthday. I had a go and I could still do them!

 

I've now got an Orange Gringo mountain bike which I use as often as I can.

my brother gave me his ammaco freestyler that he had in 1984 ( my birthday )

 

it has a 19 1/2 inch top tube , damn they were short back in the day

i had it powder coated black and had a mate rebuild the anodised gold hubs and rims with stainless spokes

 

i even got hold of some original shimano dx pedals

 

it was a damn cool bike for going to the chip shop on

My first "proper" bike was a Chrome BMX. This was made by Halfords when they were just a pushbike store! Remember those days, not a peice of chav plastic insight, just bikes!!!

 

I then had a mountain bike, can't remember the make of that.

 

Next was a Chrome Raleigh Burner BMX,

 

then a Raleigh Stratos Racer,

 

Then another Raleigh Racer - Can't remember the name of that,

 

Next was a Raleigh Mercury Racer, I bought that new with my saved up paper round money.

 

I used to go everywhere by bike, I loved all of them, but back in 1995, I was told I can't ride anymore due to a pair of iffy hips!

That was a very sad day in my life!

had the use of 2 choppers aswell when my brother or sister were out

can't remember what my first bike was, i was over the moon front ad back brakes!! but it was brown, a few years ago i had a real old racing bike that was gold, now ive got a falcon racing bike thats over 20years old, i never seem to use it though

up untill we moved to this house my dad had his old racer and it was soooo damn heavy it fell on mye when i was 8 and i couldnt get up lol it was soo heavy that once you got going as soon as you found a hill you were away or so he tell me he only recently got a new bike after not using one for years and he was really surprised at how light it was

Always wanted a Grifter or Chopper, but my 1st real bike was a Raleigh Olympus 5 speed racer, before moving onto a Dawes Renown, then two Pearson Customs and now my De Rosa Avant

now then, dont know if anybody would remember these, but my first bike was a raleigh boxer, a mini bmx in yellow with huge bars and a massive padded seat, nowdays a have a mk3 raleigh chopper for decoration in my room

i also had a chopper it was black with chrome writing. but i always wanted a red one at the time so last year i got a clapped out one off ebay and restored it. it is now taking pride of place in the front room. i will post some pics when i got a bit more time.

Sold that to pay for nappies no i own a schwinn stingray with extended forks and higher bars and striped of anything usless like brakes ect.

maguras are hydraulic rim brakes , they do have a heavy feel to them though

 

the zaskar is a decent cross country bike that can happily be ridden hard

 

i havnt seen one since about 98
