OSF Contributor Mexican Gerbil Posted May 14, 2023 OSF Contributor Report Posted May 14, 2023 First of all thank you to everyone who came, without your support, these events dont happen. Thanks to Scott for helping organise this event with me. I also need to thank whoever fixed the weather. The week before had been horrendous, with torrential rain and strong winds. This weekend has been Glourious. This years route started where last year's ended. We left Ashburton and travelled up over the moors towards Princetown, Tavistock and Callington. This was the reverse of last year's tour. However before we got to Callington, we turned right and headed up Kit Hill. One of the highest points in the local area, with amazing views. I know a few participants stopped there. After Kit Hill we headed towards Launceston where our lunch stop awaited us. We had managed to acquire Launceston Rugby Club car park, and they also opened up thier Club house for us. Pasties soon arrived fresh from the ovens at Oggy Oggy pasty shop. After lunch we had to amend the route as a road closer in Lifton meant we had a quick blast up the A30 instead. We passed the famous Ambrosia factory where custard and rice pudding is made (Devon knows how they make it creamy 😋). Next we headed back towards Tavistock, we decided to use the back road to Yelverton. Usally a quiet road over a very scenic bridge, however as the sun was out it caused a slight bottle neck for some. Once at Yelverton, we traveled back down to the base of Dartmoor to Cadover Bridge. Another lovely scenic spot that many of the locals were enjoying too. A chance for an ice-cream for those who wanted one. It was then time to head back home via Cornwood and Lee Mill. Another blast along the A38 this time and we were soon at Buckfastleigh. I stopped for a break and ice-cream here before heading back to the campsite at Ashburton. The evening was full of BBQ smoke and drinks. Scott's famous quiz was attended by a few. This years tour question winners were Steve and Laura in a Corsiar Crayford. Thanks again and see you all next year. 3 1 1

Nige65 Posted May 15, 2023 Report Posted May 15, 2023 Fantastic weekend and and a huge thanks to all those involved in the organization of the event, already looking forward to next year and will be more prepared for the tour quiz (and will also listen to the better half's navigation instructions and not just follow others to the pub). 1 1

colr6 Posted May 17, 2023 Report Posted May 17, 2023 Another one for the organisational skills of Chris and Scott. A bloody good weekend !!! Only things I could bring was the car and the weather 🥵🥵🥵🥵 Big thanks to Scott for letting me leave the car for safe keeping. ( shame the valeting service was shite ) but suppose you can’t have everything. Fantastic collection of cars attended and I think most got round the trip ok without any major disasters. Certainly a big thanks from all took part I would think. Didn’t take any pics as I usually have my personal Mr Kodak man with me ( MONZA ) who seems to discover ways of taking pictures stood on walls on hump back bridges and stops the flow of traffic 😉 4 1 1
Nige65 Posted May 22, 2023 Report Posted May 22, 2023 Is there a link to the photographer that was taking photos of the cars as they were driving through the moor?

Not yet, there were two of them and they have over 2,000 photos to process. They do it for us for free, which we're very grateful for, so we will need to be patient. Here's a few by various participants though. 1 1

Don't know, it was one of the tour participants had stopped to take those. Alternator failure on the way down on the Friday. He found somewhere with a new alternator in stock, fitted it Saturday morning and caught up with us at the lunch stop.
