Admin Vista Posted April 17, 2007 Admin Report Posted April 17, 2007 i agree with the mug shots and in profiles as ive asked before can we have real names Sorry I don't want my full real name on a public forum. I've nothing to hide and am happy to use it in any PM's and emails, just not on the forum.
MK5 Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 i agree with the mug shots and in profiles as ive asked before can we have real names Sorry I don't want my full real name on a public forum. I've nothing to hide and am happy to use it in any PM's and emails, just not on the forum. i agree... can the forum be made easier to navigate... when you're in one of the forums near the bottom and you come out, you're back at the top of the list of forums... it would be nice to be able to jump from "jokes" to "chit chat" without having to scroll 5 miles down the page and i don't want a free mk1 2 door shell with every post... can i have a mk5 Cortina with mine? thanks
Admin Mk2Jo Posted April 17, 2007 Admin Report Posted April 17, 2007 Some good points there boys and girls Flash Cadillac ... why didn't you come over and say hello Or did you (I was a little worse for wear on Saturday ). MK5 - on the main page, you can click End and then at the bottom is a Jump To clicky thing which brings up all the rooms if that helps to speed things up? Vista - if my name was Archibald Reginald Sharon Hubert Ponsonby-Smythe I wouldn't want it printed on public forum either Escort-chick - contributor will be optional not compulsory so no-one will be excluded from the main forum ... there will be a few rooms that will be exclusive however and an OSF goodie
Admin Vista Posted April 17, 2007 Admin Report Posted April 17, 2007 Vista - if my name was Archibald Reginald Sharon Hubert Ponsonby-Smythe I wouldn't want it printed on public forum either watch it mummy of OSF Or I'll be bribing some other admin to jump your monicka a generation. Does he really have Sharon as a middle name??
luz008 Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 i think its nice to have a mark next to threads you have already posted on. useful when checking through pages of new threads.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted April 17, 2007 Admin Report Posted April 17, 2007 i think its nice to have a mark next to threads you have already posted on. useful when checking through pages of new threads. Above the main surround of the forum there is a bit on the right hand side that says "View your posts" (as shown below) and if you click on that it shows you all the posts you have replied to or started if that helps View posts since last visit View your posts View unanswered posts
tazrocks88 Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 i think our avatar should be a mug shot of who we are then wen we go to shows we can put a face to osf name and not be baffled by a load of strangers we dont recognise. and not only be able to tell who people are wen they go to get sumin out their car or something????? sounds like a plan and 2 just put ur first name below it would make a difference!!!
Mr.Sumo Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 not sure about a mug-shot as an avator...surely if you are a regular poster then you would know the person by there sig-pic , lets be honest , 99% of people on here use there OSF as there sig-pic...or is that defeating the object of the idea .... On a slightly different note , could all buyers/sellers etc be asked to add there postcode when advertising , makes it easier to work out if the travel /postage costs are going to be expensive before sending PM"s....just a thought

I agree, no way I'd be advertising the address my car was kept at.
Posse Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 erm...i really like the site.I agree about the whole cursor over he topic thingy I'm just waiting for the membership fee to come into place. I think it'll be interesting who will stay and who will go. It's a small price to pay for a great site and some wicked members SPOT ON £12.00 a year we are thinking pound a month witch is jack shite really in my opinion. the other question is do we make some of the rooms on the forum exclusive to osf contributors? If so what ones?

BaileyMex Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 For some bizarre reason, on my work PC the home page is all in order, but on my laptop at home, the home page is all screwy with stuff overlapping etc which doesn't happen with CK5, my other main site. I thought that was just my lap top

BIGKEV Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 £12 is that all mate - Tell us when you want the money fella - it will be winging its way to you.
Southernspeed Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 i think its nice to have a mark next to threads you have already posted on. useful when checking through pages of new threads. Yeah I like this on other sites I use.
Nettles Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 If some members want to post their mug shots on OSF so that members can recognize each other at meets, why not post one in your garage section. Just a thought.

And mine Staying with the garage, how come if you have a mk2 Escort there are loads of options to choose from, but if you have a mk 1 you are limited to either Escort Mk1 or Escort Mk1 estate?
johnboy Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Is there any way of adding a filter to the memberlist? It's over 6000 now and I use it to PM all the members I can find in my area when setting up local meets. Page by paging hundreds of pages of members and searching for all the variations people enter (towns / regions / counties etc) takes forever A search facility where you could enter key words would help (much like in an excel spreadsheet). Agreed.
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted April 17, 2007 Author Report Posted April 17, 2007 Staying with the garage, how come if you have a mk2 Escort there are loads of options to choose from, but if you have a mk 1 you are limited to either Escort Mk1 or Escort Mk1 estate? When the garage first opened you were allowed to add your own model, but it quickly got out of hand. New models were being added along the lines of Mk2 Escort Mk2 Escort Four Door Escort Mk2 Four Door Escort mk2 Four Door Mk2 Escort You get the picture. It quickly became a mess, so I had to stop it. If you need any models adding, just send me a PM
ALL4SHOW Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 i agree with the area where you are from as ive sent that many replies & pms saying " where are you from !!!" its daft but if you look there is a bit under your name that says LOCATION but people put things like "behind you " or "la la land" ( not sure if mine tells you where im from ) but whos the worst for it ??? mods, admin but im glad you sorted the "OFFERS" thing in the for sale thread how about a "what to look for when buying a ......." in all the forums about each car & make it a sticky as im sure there is enough knowledge on each car on here that will help people get a good genuine car ie specs, problems, what rough GUIDE prices they should pay ( i know its not that easy to price up what you cant see ) plus a common fault & repair guide for each car maybe for some of the people building strip/track cars the wieght of the bits & bobs that you remove so people can see how much wieght your car can loose just by removing/replacing stuff ie windows ,seats ,trim product that you would recomend to other members to use on there cars oils, polishes, tools, upgrades thats a few i can think of at the moment
Slik 50 Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 the other question is do we make some of the rooms on the forum exclusive to osf contributors? If so what ones? The rooms I would make private are 1, Ask the fuzz 2, Chat with magazines section 3, Tips and advice from KJ1320 4, OSFDC CHAT 5, Ask Retro 6, maybe projects and restos 7, the classified sections 8, The Adults room, 9, Photoshop 10, Sig pics Basically any room that offers technical advice that would be benificial to members. If we got any deals from specilist firms I.E insurance, Alimax ect. They could be kept to members only, or offers gaurenteing places on cruises or events, or special ticket prices to events. Just a few ideas. I think you need to keep a good balence between giving members what they want and keeping visitors intrested and wanting to become members. There have been a few sites around that I have visted and been put off straight away as there wasnt anything intresting available as I wasnt a member. As far as the site go's I think its spot on and I wouldnt change anything as I find everything that I use works fine for me
negri Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 im not sure whats going to be in the contributers section but how about a group buy section . escort tec , g.s , alimax or anyone allowed by admin can offer goods at a better price if over ten people want one . used this on a few other sites and has worked out pretty good . things ranging from pads and disks , alloys and even sat nav systems. or anything that needs a big production run to make it cost effective .
