johnny_h Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 So yesterday after replacing the axle on my mexico it was time to see if it worked. The rubbish starter motor wasn't playing so we decided to tow start it with the fezza. It fired up beautifully and obviously when emma (who was towing) heard the engine start she stopped the fez. It was at this point I remembered I hadn't bled the mex's brakes. With no possible way of stopping in time I ingeniously tooted my horn and shouted out of my window while waving my arms about to which emma quickly reacted by wheel spinning the fez away from the front of the mex. This however was not ideal as when the slack was taken up, the mex was catapulted at a greater velocity towards emma's rear end. Slowing to a gradual halt was not an option as now we were approaching a main road junction. My cartoon attempts at stopping the car by opening the door and digging my heels in failed. The inevitable happened and now emma is claiming for whiplash and I have two dented OSF's! Never underestimate the importance of brakes!
Pye Man Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 Jesus!!! I hope both the cars and Emma make a speedy recovery! Gutted fort you mate
johnny_h Posted May 30, 2007 Author Report Posted May 30, 2007 OH DAMN! The hand brake! Why didn't I think of that. . . No really, The drums had had a complete overhaul so the hand brake hadn't been adjusted up yet. It's a horrible feeling not being able to slow the car even a little bit!

No really, The drums had had a complete overhaul so the hand brake hadn't been adjusted up yet. It's a horrible feeling not being able to slow the car even a little bit! couldnt you just jam it in gear ? We were tow starting it so I was jamming it in gear to get it to start. Looking back I could have turned the ignition off or maybe shove it in reverse but my brain is not as quick as it used to be! Anyway, pictures to follow later and thankfully the fez came off worse than the mex. Emma is fine also. I made the whip lash bit up.
