I voted for no, and before I get everyone slagging me off, I don't think you have ruined it, its just that I am a bit of a originallty fan, I just don't like the rattle can look .

 

Its a 2.0s and IMHO would look better as a Silver 2.0s with decals and everything, but then its your car and you can do what you like to your motor

looks meen as fook mate ive had a matt black cappa when i was on a budget and it looked different but alot better than what it was . the good thing with painting a car matt is its a peace of piss even for a amature . not saying you are just saying like . dont get me wrong thou matey as you know im a big fan of shiny paint but its all about ££££££££

Mate, I always wanted to primer the sierra but never had the balls to do it!

A lot of people on here that will admit that after spending ££££ on a lovley paint job, You get proper pissed of when when you come back from the shop or a good run out and you find chipped paint work or car park dings ect. The best thing about a primerd car is that it dosnt mater.

 

Try telling this mush his car is shit and that he has ruined it

i personally love it! - Bear in mind how easy it is to touch up etc - I'll bet it gets used far more than the shiny ones? I'd love a flash shiny one but I couldn't afford to keep it that way coz A: I don't have the money B: I don't have the time & C: I couldn't be arsed to keep polishing etc - But I do have all the respect in the world for those that do..

I voted don't care, I've got nothing against the colour as such - I can't get excited about it just like I don't see why people are excited about steel wheels again.

 

The main thing, as everyone else has said, is that you like it - I'm sure some people won't like mine when its done but that's my choice.

if i had a capri which needed some bodywork doing (i do , oops) id be well tempted to give it a matt black or red oxide look.

 

there was an x packed mk3 on ebay which was painted red oxide, looked very cool, that was on slots aswel

 

the slots look spot on painted black to match aswel

 

whatever else, its your own car now, not just another silver 2.0s same as every other silver 2.0s...

I've always subscribed to the theory that with cars(and probably other things) if you like the look/style and you get a kick from it then its cool. If other people don't like it - UNLUCKY! As a rule I'm not a huge personal fan of the whole rattle can/rat look(matt blacks needs huge ponies to ram home the point - ala the cossie cortina) but on another day I might spot something and love it - If you think its cool then its cool, and when you don't change it.

i am toying with sticking my 14" slots off my corsair on it as i am pretty bored with my allycats

 

you dont get any one trying to cut you up when you are in a matt black motor

ps. could you PM me some tips on doin the work to the car cos some summer 08 (if we bloody have a summer), I'm going fully rat with some black pug 205 rims, stripped body and budget paint! (ie, hammerite underneath and rattle cans on top!) but mine was a 1.6 laser so that would need hard work to remove the rubbing strips, no?

I really like it, I agree with the guys who say its Mad Max cos it deffo is I think its real honest of you to ask what others think cos although most will say its your car, yes it is and we all build our cars to our own tastes but at the end of the day we are also concerned about others opinions. Ask yourself though, if most said you ruined it, would you change it? I dont think so! and thats the real point, do your own thing and feck the rest!!
