FredTransit Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Not too many stupid rules, being able to speak your mind (as long as it's not to only be insulting) without fear of excessive censorship. Oh, and OSFs helps, have boobs of me own so that's not a requirement....
evil knievel Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 i like a nice easy going forum, where you can have a bit of banter. i know this forum gets called 'clicky' from time to time but its not really, it's just the 'regulars' having a bit of a laugh!! sharing technical information and ideas with people from all over the globe and all walks of life is great
Admin Mk2Jo Posted September 21, 2009 Author Admin Report Posted September 21, 2009 i know this forum gets called 'clicky' from time to time but its not really, it's just the 'regulars' having a bit of a laugh!! nail and head
SmokeEm Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 i know this forum gets called 'clicky' from time to time but its not really, it's just the 'regulars' having a bit of a laugh!! nail and head I agree - I think Jo and the others are great and I promise not to mis quote them because I know that they can change my posts without me being able to do a thing about it
Mk 1 Mark Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Parts for sale that are cheap lol And useful information, to help with projects and restorations. . . . Advice, and who to use and not to use. . . . . And loads of pictures of the , events that have just happened with witty friendly banter to back up the events. . . . . Free beer, and young chicks in next to no clothes is always a plus as well though
mk1super Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 When you frequent a forum (any forum not just OSF) ... what do you look for and what makes you stay or go? Discuss Nice lay out, easy to navigate and read (im dyslexic so its important for me), one you dont have to sign into 20 million times as it boots you after every post, friendly, laid back staff running it. Helps if the folks on it are friendly Things that put me off forums Hard to navigate poorly laid-out sites. Un friendly members and the usual Admin and moderator minions, you know admin or a mods tell you off an 20 odd members do also
jimbo Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 i know this forum gets called 'clicky' from time to time but its not really, it's just the 'regulars' having a bit of a laugh!! nail and head I suppose it can come across as clicky if new folks (or folks like me who struggle to find time to get to as many meets as I'd like ) read the banter. I guess it's up to all of us to involve ourselves in new members hellos and low-numbers posters threads to remove that feeling (I'm not great at this but promise to try get better ) This forum has it all otherwise. If I had to pick and choose: - A better search facility - A more definitive set of how-to posts for those eternal questions (type 9 conversion springs to mind )
bigglesmk2 Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Being able to muck about and have a bit of banter,a place to be silly I want to chat about the random-ness of wearing your t-shirt back to front all day or putting the milk in the cupboard and the greatness of jelly babies mixed in with helpfull tips and advice to help us with our pride and joy.
PIG Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 all forums have a clicky elimante (sp) to them tho,but in most cases it really is'nt clicky imo.again regulars etc having the crack/ripping the piss out of each other where they meet on occassion.newbies etc should make the effort as well to get involved in this banter. this is my opinon only, there has been this question on most ford forms at some stage i think.Alcoholics Anonymous, turbosport, rse, etc etc.
zetecmk2 Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 i like a forum diverse enough to cater for what mood i'm in........tech, off topic, taking the piss out of fat blokes in farnham, meets etc...... and meeting people so they're not just a name!!! osf feels like home to me, i'm on other forums a few times a week as i have a few hobbies, but always check "latest posts" before bed!! there is enough techno's, racers, drinkers, nutters, sensible folk, people with dreams etc to keep osf well balanced!! i like it as it is!!
over_head_cam Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Lots of good points people Glen - Love you man
Admin Mk2Jo Posted September 22, 2009 Author Admin Report Posted September 22, 2009 Thanks for your honesty guys ... I think it's quite a good point that a few of you have made about trying to involve newbies a bit more ... it can sometimes seem a little intimidating if people come across as knowing each other well I also agree with the comments that newbies need to play their part as well in plucking up the courage and getting involved in conversations/topics If any of you oldies find the time, maybe you can welcome people in the Intro's area from time to time ... thanking you muchly ... as always, you know where we are if you have any gripes or suggestions. PM's are a good way of letting us know how you feel
Admin Vista Posted September 22, 2009 Admin Report Posted September 22, 2009 If any of you oldies Watch it Mama san
