Mmm not sure, I guess you could paint it and at least if you didn't like itΒ  it's easy to get off.

What black though? Gloss? Satin? Matt?

How about just the lower in black? It would visually thin the grille but leave its 'face'.

I'll try that on my lunch break an post a picture to see what we think πŸ‘

What about Satin black the 'whole' mouth area including the line going half way through?

Forgive my basic paint skills 🀣

I was thinking a splash of pastel pink while showing your love and dedication to the forum? .....................................................Too much?

Genuinely though I like it silver also. I have seen Mk1 escorts with all silver grills but its a vintage thing that suits Mk1 Cortinas way more. I see your motive behind it though as with a blackened grill it does seem to blend with the wheels more but I like the silver grill so much I would be more tempted to silver up the wheels to match the grill rather than the other way around.

Why not make a custom grill. Could be unique to your car and you always have the original one to use. I had one made a few years ago and cost me Β£80 quid. It was laser cut .

I was only thinking about it as the lotus mk1s tended to have black grills an I quite like it but maybe all black is too much I'm not sure?

They advertise on the TV these aps for floor tiles where you take a photo of your room and they computer generate a photo showing the floor with those tiles. Surely a car version is not far away so you can mix and match before you actually paint anything.

I still like the car just as it is though so you cant go wrong leaving it without spending a cent.

I'm sure there is but I'm not one to spend money on apps so if there's a free one I'll try it πŸ˜‚Β

Thanks mate yea I'm happy with it to, just keep looking at the grillπŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚

I prefer black with the silver division. How much is a crappy grille for a Cortina? I painted my grille in body colour, it was a crappy grille to start with but bashed straight and painted only cost me my time and a rattle can, Happy Days!Β I have a good one should I want silver again.

Unfortunately the only few grills I seen are quite a few quid, but yea was thinking buying a shagged out one an painting it an maybe swopping between the 2 now an again as it's only 3 screws holding it in πŸ€”πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

For me its Silver all day long. Im all for 'as it left the factory' which over the tears has cost me fortunes putting things back as they where.Β

Β

Then again, its your car and if it pleases you go for whatever you want.

Do agree though, if its a good grill buy a cheapo and do that first to make sure you like it.

Β

Nice car either way.

Yea I'm normally of the mind, if I do any modifications, it's in such a way the car can be returned to stock with little to no effort,Β  that's why I'm seeking advice with the grill. Can't find an old cheap one to play about with at the moment
