PeteRS8084 Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 Growing up in Southend in the 70s customs, cars and vans, we're the norm, especially on cruise nights! So I am afraid I have a soft spot for anything custom! 3
HotRodMatt Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 Growing up in Southend in the 70s customs, cars and vans, we're the norm, especially on cruise nights! So I am afraid I have a soft spot for anything custom!Me too, (I have a roof chopped, full chassis Minor in the garage keeping the Mk1 company) but some of the 70s/80s styles are a bit too much for me. Top marks to the guys for doing what they did back then though, there seems to have been far more variety then than there is now. 1
PeteRS8084 Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 Yeah I know what you mean, and too think they did it without the majority of the techniques that are available now. I can remember cars and vans with such amazing custom paint work, and the chrome and lighting was great. You just can't beat a big car, zodiac or zephyr, with a jag back axle fully chromed, lit up. Amazing paint and interiors and some massive wolfrace or cragors with general grabber white lettered tyres. I would like to think that thee will be some barn finds of that sort of stuff in the yrs too come. And as for normal wildings creations, pieces of eight etc. Used to love seeing them when he came into my old man's garage for fuel, and then a massive burn out on the southchurch road for good measure! Happy days 2
HotRodMatt Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 They are creeping back out of barns and workshops, but a lot of them got scrapped or broken up. Andromeda, Revenge and a handful of other show rods of that period have been restored to their original specs. 1
SmokeEm Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Lets see some pics of your Minor then Matt. I had a chopped n couped moggy years ago. 1

Admin Vista Posted November 20, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted November 20, 2015 So, anyone want to take a stab at what this was once?
HotRodMatt Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 Whatever it was it's trying to be a yank '56 Ford without much success. 1
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted November 21, 2015 Moderator Report Posted November 21, 2015 So, anyone want to take a stab at what this was once? image.jpeg I would just like to take a stab AT it! Anything sharp would do. 2
jxke Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 That red granada/belair thing! I would drive that... ...directly off a cliff.
luckyjim Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 I think its an American 56 wagon trying to be a Granada 1
accord83 Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Has it just been round the oval? Any self respecting scrap mans dog would be ashamed to have it as a kennel.
Admin Vista Posted November 23, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted November 23, 2015 I'm told it was a European Spec Ford Taunus pre Butchery!
colr6 Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 What threw me away from a Taunus was the five stud wheels, always thought Taunus cars like that were based on the cortina. It was the door handles that started my thoughts along those lines
colr6 Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Suppose all depends on how you speak! On how it sounds haha
HotRodMatt Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Suppose all depends on how you speak! On how it sounds hahaI think the southerners say it "Torn arse" and us northerners say it proper. 1
accord83 Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Well someone tore the arse out of that Taunus good and proper........... 2
Admin Vista Posted November 24, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted November 24, 2015 And we're back to the 70's customising scene again... 1
irishtorag Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 great for taking the turf home from the bog kenny
buzzard Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 So, anyone want to take a stab at what this was once? image.jpeg Looking at it I'd say a mk3 cortina saloon 4 door
Admin Vista Posted December 6, 2015 Author Admin Report Posted December 6, 2015 Do I like this one or not? I can't decide! 5
mk2 mike Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 I like that Capri. This one should divide opinions!
