jamie956 Posted December 5, 2015 Report Posted December 5, 2015 So I have seen on another forum that the age restriction for cars this year has now been raised to 1996, so that now means Mk6 escorts, Mk4 Fiesta's, Mondeo's, Ka's etc. are able to be shown on club stands. Now I'm not a hardcore old skooler but I think this is a step to far, I have always been on the side of having a full show instead of strictly sticking to age limits and having a empty show but when ever has there been any issue filling Classic Ford with Classis Fords, if the show was failing with poor attendance then I can understand shaking it up but from my experience there is always a reserve list for stand passes on here and the other forums I go on. Lets hope the clubs police there own stands with what cars are going on them to preserve the sprit of Classic ford as it seams the organiser's aren't interested Classic Ford should stay Classic and not be turned into another Ford Fair or Ford Fest. 1
JP. Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 When reading this, me and my wife both said, this is not a good thing to happen. This step to 1996 is way to big. So a car must be at least 20 years old in 2016 to attend the show.
logieiow Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Totally agree with you Jamie956, there's plenty of shows that cater for newer Fords, organisers should keep this show for proper classics 1
theloudboy Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 I hope it's not the start of a down turn for the classic ford show the car park is full of wicked motors there it's always worth having a walk around to have a look, I can see people will not go if loads of newer fords are there 1
HotRodMatt Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 I can see Mondeos, KAs, and Mk4 Fiestas in most towns on a normal day, why would I want to pay to look at them? I thought the CF show reflected the cars in the mag? I know they have FWD stuff in there already (hence why I don't buy it) but this is a bit much. It'll be just like the other Ford shows. 1
dalmarshall Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Greed? CF seems busy enough as it is and the cars they're gonna let in aren't really classic!........bad move!
deltamal Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Parts of the show will be like Tesco's car park, it should be marques in production pre 1980........
jamie956 Posted December 6, 2015 Author Report Posted December 6, 2015 I think you have hit the nail on the head Money, i'm guessing the revenue is swinging towards these shows rather than publications. Im not totally apposed to opening up the show as I appreciate most things ford it just needs to be done in the right way.
Admin Vista Posted December 6, 2015 Admin Report Posted December 6, 2015 I'm sorry to say, it isn't a rumour it's official. http://www.classicfordshow.co.uk/club-info If you wish to attend Classic Ford Show as part of a club, you can book your stand tickets online. Club stands must have a minimum of five cars. Club bookings are subject to space availability and we reserve the right to close entry before the closing date. All car club entries must be classic Ford models circa 20 years and older (pre 1996).
HotRodMatt Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Well I won't be handing over my hard earned to look at a Mk4 Fiesta with a boombox and a 5" tailpipe and full of chavs.
Admin Vista Posted December 6, 2015 Admin Report Posted December 6, 2015 If people want to make a protest statement, I would be happy to consider having a stand at a different show instead. Silverstone Classic for instance? It would have to be a majority decision though. http://www.silverstoneclassic.com/welcome 1
colr6 Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Although I disagree with what they have proposed quite a few of us have already booked hotels for CFS. Pity on a non cancellation basis
dalmarshall Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Its my favourite show of the year, 130 plus OSF members and their cars, drag action all day.......A few neon lights and fancy wireless' wont keep me away!
jxke Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 I was planning to come after giving the 2015 one a miss. 2014's was sooo not worth £24 to get in, and I can't see 2016's be any better if it's open to pre-96. I reckon it'll be just like Fordfest was, seems a bit pointless but I know people will go anyway.
khanlad Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 To me most of it is about meeting up and having a bit of a laugh, i like quite a few of the post 80 fords, rs turbos, cossies, etc, not into lowered mondeos and ka's but i just wont look at them. To be fair they probably spend as much time making their cars how they want them as we do?
deltamal Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 They may as well have Classic Ford and Ford fair at the same venue! Silverstone classic looks interesting, no mention of vehicle ages though....
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted December 7, 2015 Moderator Report Posted December 7, 2015 Well I won't be handing over my hard earned to look at a Mk4 Fiesta with a boombox and a 5" tailpipe and full of chavs. I have read this word and heard it said on British TV series so I have been dying to ask someone ....... what is a chav?

Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted December 7, 2015 Moderator Report Posted December 7, 2015 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav Oh interesting thanks. We call them bogans but its not age restrictive to younger ones only. 1
HotRodMatt Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 Oh interesting thanks. We call them bogans but its not age restrictive to younger ones only. The chavs are getting older though so it's not just the youths anymore.
colr6 Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 It rules most of the OSF clan out because we're all old sods, well some more than others! 1
jamie956 Posted December 7, 2015 Author Report Posted December 7, 2015 In the car world these tend to be the people with 1.4l Fiesta's holding them on the rev limiter in the middle of the camp site at 1 in the morning. 1
guido Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 its the generation people. Younger folks know and buy the younger cars at least most of them. In my country there is not so much on classic Fords as in UK. Meetings have been mixed with modern for years. Just local meetings with only pre 80 or what ever real classic 40+years happen here and there. Then there might be an interest on commercial side too. More tuning companies for younger cars exists. Attending Car shows, sponsoring ect. Just my opinion on this.
