khanlad Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 I cant decide? Part of me thinks what a waste of a good engine, the other bits thinks it will be quite fun? 1
colr6 Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 Ah well if the cortina never comes back from painting, I've got an option for my engine.
katana Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 Why not - lots of die hard Ford people fitting Vauxhall XE engines in their Dagenham Dustbins and Duratec's are re-badged Mazda's designed by Yamaha. Now if someone used an MGB engine in a Cortina it would be different! 2
irishtorag Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 i think perfect good choice for fun. As a lot of fords have vauxhall engines and honda why not fit ford engines in other cars, there was a toyota starlet at reto stock drift day with built by toyota powered by ford on the rear window and if i remember properly a 240 volvo all cossie powered up last time
RWL81P Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 i think thats the bollox of a sleeper!
colr6 Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 Oh dear, well I've got one of those with nothing in it, And one of these with no where to go at the mo Could be a weekend of fun !! 1
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted September 17, 2016 Moderator Report Posted September 17, 2016 Its a very neat installation and you cant fault them for that. Was a nice attractive roaster with tractor engines so I totally understand looking afield for more sport and less agriculture. While I think Cossies should go into old Fords I have to go with the owner on this, he did make his MGB more cool.
RWL81P Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 any more pics? was trying to see how he's swapped the alternator to the opposite side.
colr6 Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 any more pics? was trying to see how he's swapped the alternator to the opposite side. Would imagine with some rather large brackets.
Admin Vista Posted September 17, 2016 Author Admin Report Posted September 17, 2016 It is a proper sleeper, a shock for someone thinking they're taking on an asthmatic B series! 1
colr6 Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 Looking at the pics it's been a bit more than just an engine swap, tidy job
accord83 Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 For a convertible Austin Cambridge I think it's brilliant, now get rid of the body and fit a Corsair shell on to it and I'd get all horny. 1
aardvark101 Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 Yeah, whatever, MGB driver still wont wave back at ya when you flash them 2
RWL81P Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 cracking bit of kit that! and on chrome bumpers too, not those crappy rubber ones
Admin Vista Posted September 17, 2016 Author Admin Report Posted September 17, 2016 Looking at the pics it's been a bit more than just an engine swap, tidy job Indeed, T5 box and Sierra IRS too.
chinkamon Posted September 17, 2016 Report Posted September 17, 2016 They can't be that expensive can they? Every1 knows they were shit when they were new so that makes perfect sense to me!! I used to be into hotrods an a guy had a sit up an bed ford pop an stuck some whacking great big diesel v8 turbo monster in it!! Was clever an wen u sit back an think about it.... it makes an originally poor performing car great to use! Can't argue with that 1
BaileyMex Posted September 18, 2016 Report Posted September 18, 2016 It kind of reminds me of one when I was a kid in Mitcham. It was matt black, slammed and loud as f##k. No idea what it was running but it was quick and was driven hard!!! Fair play I say
deltamal Posted September 18, 2016 Report Posted September 18, 2016 I wonder what the MGB purists make of it! it must surprise a few,.....
