With regards to how big cars are nowadays, a lot of it is down to the tech and safety features built in. Let's say that the new Focus ST is the the current modern variant of your MK1 these days. If you stripped out every single feature of the Focus ST and tried to put it into your MK1, it would end up being that the MK1 would now need to be built bigger to accommodate everything. Your car is probably smaller than a current Ford Fiesta, which in it's day was the baby brother of the MK2 Escort. I think that white car behind you is a Vauxhall Mokka. Basically a roided up version of the Astra, which back in the day of your MK1 would have been on par with a Vauxhall Viva. Anyway, I totally side tracked there. NICE MK1 and I'll have that out of the 3 cars on display, thank you... She did.......and so did I an hour later when the Owner of a 70 plate Golf GTI attempted to "show an old nail who's boss" by booting it away along the dual carriageway............ Imagine his surprise when at some considerable mph on that dual carriageway, he looked in his rear view mirror only to find I was no longer behind him, but had pulled out and was passing. Near 200bhp from a hot 2.2 fuel injected pinto in an ickle lightweight mk1 Escort will do that old chap. No lardy electric windows, electric heated leather seats, power steering, central locking, side impact bars, triple glazing, air con, banging stereo with three zillion speakers (etc etc etc) weighing me down To be fair, he gave me a flash of his lights and a cheery wave as I went past. 2 1

I used to drive mine to Football and leave it in a public car park when I was playing, wouldn't dare do that now. It wasn't a public car park, it was the rugby club's on car park and I could see the car from the pitch. It was safe enough for an hour or so. Reasonably safe where pictured in the city centre too as there's CCTV everywhere. Not sure I'd have left it in the multistory mind. 1

Monza Posted November 13, 2021 Report Posted November 13, 2021 Only took two and didn't get any of the interior, although I did have a long chat with the owner. The interior is kitted out with a kitchen.....tea/coffee making facilities, fridge etc. Awesome it was.....as was the car! Sent from my Hammer_Energy_18x9 using Tapatalk 1
BaileyMex Posted December 18, 2021 Report Posted December 18, 2021 So popped back down to the Bletchingley Arms meet again this morning. Not as busy as before, but still some nice cars there 4

BaileyMex Posted January 24, 2022 Report Posted January 24, 2022 First little trip out on Sunday, first meet of a brand new meet, not a bit turn out and I didn't take many pics, but good to get out for a bit of a blast Mostly Yank stuff, and some other bits which I didn't photo 🤨 1

Miniliteman Posted April 26, 2022 Report Posted April 26, 2022 Couple of weeks before our Classic Ford Event in Venlo (this was years ago, no recent photos) we went to the venue to look at possible slalom layouts on the landing strip area of the small Traffic Port airfield. Of course we had to try how sticky the tarmac was ... within in a few minutes a police helicopter was circling above and it landed just a few meters away from my car! Luckily they weren't after me, the co-pilot needed to go to the toilet ... PS: vid of the 2011 Event here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofqak2kuWsc 2
chinkamon Posted May 8, 2022 Report Posted May 8, 2022 They're still fords!! So early this morning went along to take my brothers phaeton roadster to our mates garage to get a rollcage installed ready for pendine sands beach racing next weekend. Also saw our mates modified 1927 ford model t he's buidling specially for the weekend racing, he's got the rad installed in what used to be the passenger seat, and made custom scoops in the body to direct air through it when driving, In front was one of his friends 1930 sedan which again has been made specifically for racing, Some seriously clever work going on, big motors, big fun, 4
BaileyMex Posted May 22, 2022 Report Posted May 22, 2022 Decent turn out at the Bletchingley meet yesterday morning, prob 100+ cars, and a modest OSF turn out. 5
katana Posted May 22, 2022 Report Posted May 22, 2022 I'd love a Hillman Imp Stiletto Fastback - If I can't have another Cooper 'S' ! Of course it'd have to have a Hayabusa engine in the back - just for giggles! 1

It’s a fantastic conversion and the car looks stunning. I raced one back in the 80s with a fuel injected for pushrod in the back through a hewland type 8 or 9. Great fun 1

chinkamon Posted June 4, 2022 Report Posted June 4, 2022 (edited) Went to forge Motorsport in Gloucester this morning for their brunch meet, with a load of cars from Hereford. Good turn out of cars but quite a lot of BMW 1 series an Hyundai i30n's, but in amongst them with some right peaches.... This escort was simply stunning, and the Volvo Amazon was also amazing I think Edited June 4, 2022 by chinkamon 4
