Great day out at Burton Constable Hall near Hull today. Organised by East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club.

Mk1 at home with the aristocracy. Who needs the Bentley 😊20230521_164632.thumb.jpg.7f7c0279ab5a5d71cdd93db283a7f5b0.jpg

Cars in the Park, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa,

Awesome event, especially the 7am dash to get a good spot at the event .

My late moms 2.0Gli in red, close friends genuine XR8 and a reliable  sierra 2.0Gle ( Poverty Spec !)

I quite fancy one of your SA 3ltr Sierra Sapphire's. We didn't get them in the UK ☹️

Yes, those Essex v6s certainly do sing a tune, however the XR8 morning tune is something of an experience.

My buddy owns a Cortina Mk5 LDV  V6 which was meant to go out ,  however the week earlier found the rear welsh plug leaking water.

Nonetheless there's quite a few V6s still rolling around SA.

There was also a limited run of the v6 Essex with Bosch Fuel injection for the sierra/ sapphires. A close friends dad has a mk5 Tina which is now injected as well. This particular car was actually one of  South Africa's first test car by Alpine Developments to experiment with turbo charging a V6 back in the late 80s. Unfortunately now they decided to get rid of the turbo and stick with injection instead.

I find it very interesting, the different car that you have in South Africa. 👌

Mk5 Cortina, however running an updated Injected V6 setup.

As some would know @Vista and @DT36 I have had a favourite vehicle that I always loved but never seen one in real life as only 50 were brought into the country by the Australian Army. But on the weekend there it was and it was for sale for 40K (AUD)!!!

40k $ Au? What's that in real money, £40? 😉

Just done the currency conversion, circa £21k? That's cheaper than here.

What were you expecting - reclining Recarro seats, 500w stereo and furry dice LOL!

Why is your Escort so small - its dwarfed by an MGB! - MHDay1g.jpg

No but all the ones I have seen in the UK they are done out as campers and things. This one is just a pickup with a canopy lol

Its just the wide angle lens perspective I think and it was parked further back than the MGB!

Another Bungarribee Coffee and Cars Show. A selection of cars mainly Ford ones for the Forum but many different musclle and classic there.

omcc2e.thumb.jpg.c1935abb822a80323f83aa7b18807d24.jpg

omcc2h.thumb.jpg.0e266cbafd3e88fcf64797b976fba148.jpg

This one was badged as a RS1600 but wasn't, I dont think it even had a BDA engine.

omcc2j.thumb.jpg.6e77b93489d1a4c5f331e2721efb3925.jpg

Honda S600 Coupe, had never seen one before. (It came second in the original classics division)

omcc2i.thumb.jpg.a68e703b1b72f554068492f8e30f0e5d.jpg

The turbo position caught my eye in this one parked beside a Ferrari.

omcc2f.thumb.jpg.c30fea39e649b2951e133ae3c2d5c33f.jpg

And I stepped up a place! I came second in the Fast Fours and Rotaries division. Trophy on the battery but it blended in with the engine. I was quite surprised as there were twice as many cars as was at the event on Mothers Day and at least six I thought were better than RP2000 including the Mk1 above so not sure how I got second place actually. This time I displayed with the bonnet up and I had my new slammy door rubber installed. They must look close if that change got me a place! Winner was an Irish guy with a pristine Datsun 1200 Ute who was going to sell it to fund his Mk2 Escort restoration!

All ready and cleaned ready for the local East coast run. Supposedly 700 vehicles attended last year. The weather is great , should be a good day.

Out for cuppa and cake with the misses this morning, had to take it easy , as she doesn't  like me giving it the bean's.

I still managed

a few flat out , and fast corners though.

Little Lakes run. 600ish miles over three days. Brilliant weekend. Had one casualty... gearstick collapsed, no-one had a spare (who carries a spare stick?) so was RAC'd home on sat evening. We are going to the local classic car show tomorrow, so today I thought I would get Tina out and check she was running ok. As the sun was shining I popped for a quick drive around. It is a while since I was out and I had forgotten how much fun an old car is.
