BaileyMex Posted February 3, 2022 Report Posted February 3, 2022 Bit of a random one. Having a bit of a sort out with paperwork and it became apparent that most of the stuff that I've bought for the Mex over the last 10 years or so has been online via some retailer or ebay etc. Back in the day we didn't have the internet so we popped down to the local motor factors or high street car junk shop, paid cash, got a receipt and threw it in a folder. Dawned on me that the Receipts folder is a little skinny over the last 10 years as I never printed off any E-Receipts! Do you think it really matters much these days? Not planning on selling the car, but just one of those crazy thoughts that comes into your head when bored at work
meXEco Posted February 3, 2022 Report Posted February 3, 2022 Funny i was thinking the same the other day regarding buying online etc. and not having a paper trail to back up purchases-bit late now lol... 1
katana Posted February 3, 2022 Report Posted February 3, 2022 Just put electronic receipts on a flash thumb drive and throw that in the box!
Ray Posted February 3, 2022 Report Posted February 3, 2022 tbh, i gave up printing them off and tryng to keep track of it all, because (1) e bay no longer let you go back that far on purchases like they used to, and by time i had realised that it was too late. (2) i found myself repeatedly changing parts for better parts as they came along, and i just totally lost track the car itself and main restoration pictures say enough imho
mpdevelopments.uk Posted February 3, 2022 Report Posted February 3, 2022 Well i must be the special one. I have a very large folder with every receipt, for stuff that i have purchased for my project from pennies to pounds. going back to 2016 when i started it. 1

Hindsight mate Moving forward that's the right call, and must do it as I go, but can't find the email receipts for quite a few things from pre 2012 Went on a mission after posting this and manage to track down a fair amount, but some electronic receipts are MIA 🤣

Xp197777 Posted February 3, 2022 Report Posted February 3, 2022 Just a thought if you paid via PayPal you could track them from them 1
colr6 Posted February 3, 2022 Report Posted February 3, 2022 Good idea…but it then makes you realise HOW much you’ve spent on an old Dagenham dustbin. 2 2
BaileyMex Posted February 3, 2022 Author Report Posted February 3, 2022 True, maybe its a job for a quiet weekend. Just wonderd if everyone still keeps receipts still

Johnny Boy Posted February 3, 2022 Report Posted February 3, 2022 I like to keep receipts, and generally print off eBay ones. It can be a bit frightening though if you go though them. Best not too look really. 1
Admin Vista Posted February 3, 2022 Admin Report Posted February 3, 2022 I have big folders of receipts for mine and always printed off hard copies of receipts for things I bought online. Mainly so I could prove the cost of replacing it to insurers if it ever got knocked or written off 1
Nursebetty Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 I just print my stuff at work and chuck it in a folder. In all honesty im sure when a buyer is looking at a enthusiast car theyll notice where you have spend quality money.
BaileyMex Posted February 4, 2022 Author Report Posted February 4, 2022 Right, that is the mission this weekend, go back over all old online purchases and print off what I can. Fortunately already have a good couple of folders of stuff, but be nice to get it back up to speed a bit
BIG G Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 I don't bother anymore as I've owned this one so long everything has been swapped at least 4 times...plus if the wife ever found the folder I'd be homeless 🤣 2
BaileyMex Posted February 4, 2022 Author Report Posted February 4, 2022 hahahahaha yeah sounds about right, had mine just under 20 years now
deltamal Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 Ive got most of the receiepts for my Mk3 Tina, looking back is a bit 'suprising' over the years, I was looking at one recently from JRE Motorsports for rebuilding and stroking the Cossie I had in it, loads of money!
BaileyMex Posted February 7, 2022 Author Report Posted February 7, 2022 Couldn't go out anywhere over the weekend so spent most of Saturday going way back on all my emails from 2003 onwards for stuff I'd bought and forgot to print off the receipts, and then trying to pull old invoices and purchases off eBay etc and was pleasantly surprised how much I managed to find, so much so that 2 folders is now 3 Actually found another folder full of bits that I'd forgotten about... RESULT!!! then spent Sunday feeding the OCD demon by putting all of the receipts, invoices and orders in plastic sleeves, ordered some new folders so it'll all be a lot more organised Oh, and ordered 526 photo's online of the rebuild and some more of my Classic Ford and Retro Ford photoshoot - Tart I know Pics to follow once new folders arrive 😆
Daddio Posted February 25, 2022 Report Posted February 25, 2022 Looking forward to viewing all 526 photo's mate, get them up here! Mitcham brings back memories as I grew up just round the corner in Streatham Vale. If you're old enough you might've seen my first car (mk1 escort) bombing around in about '82 - '84. Was a 4-door, Ford diamond white top and Fiat Monaco red bottom - bit like the Alan Mann colour scheme but different colours obvs, Wish to god I still had it but the floor was falling out....
BaileyMex Posted February 25, 2022 Author Report Posted February 25, 2022 I think I’d crash the site 🤣 putting up that many. Might try to get some up. and Streatham Vale, blimey not been there for years, a mate of mine lived down the road the Mitchum Mint pub was on, can’t remember the name of the road to be honest. I don’t remember seeing your car around, but there used to be tonnes of old fords causing mischief round there, Mitcham and Pollards Hill.
Daddio Posted February 25, 2022 Report Posted February 25, 2022 lillian road? Was certainly one of 'em. Put a couple of pics up and I'll try to find a few of mine. Moved a few times since then tho'.
BaileyMex Posted February 25, 2022 Author Report Posted February 25, 2022 Yeah I think that was it actually. Got merry a few tines in the Mint too 🍺
