1 of my favourite cars was the monaro, I had a Vauxhall calibra which I always thought was at least styled with holden in mind, I love the fact that holden came with stupid big motors mostly 😁

The old school Monaros or the later ones? Looks similar to Calibra then im thinking later ones. I think the later Monaros were sold in the UK too if I remember correctly?

The funny thing is you liking Holdens being an Old Skool Ford man. In Australia that simply isnt done, its like a war that never ends. When I was a kid my step father called me into his room and said he had to give me the talk. I never got the one about sex though it was there are Ford Families and Holden Families and that we were a Ford one and it was not right to associate with Holden ones. I am not kidding and the only other talk I ever got from him was voting Labor not conservative!

It has simple lines yes but many designers  go overboard when they try re-inventing their muscle cars. You can actually buy them in the UK as they were marketed as Vauxhall Monaro's.

I may just add that the constant visits to the petrol station for the best fuel was a deciding factor in its sale, never did get bored with just how fast it got down tne road, nearly as fast as watching the fuel needle go from full to empty...........happy days!

I had a VXR8 FOR a year, what a machine.........its all about the V8, there is no replacement for displacement as they say!

Aussies will put a V8 in anything and everything.

It has a similar design influence to a Ford Explorer SUV Concept that was built in 1973 with images posted earlier in this thread.

That last picture....... Ford Promotions geezer to his manager - Lets attach a huge hang glider to the new Ford Explorer - it'll appeal to the Kids!

Manager - How does it get airborne?

Promotions guy - Just drive really fast!

Manager - And then off the edge of a mountain - Perfect!
