Hi,

Don't know if any of you guy's (& girls), surf the for sale section for classic cars on Ebay, but there is an Orange MK2 Mexico item No-: 126014381343, for sale & I am sure it is not a genuine Mexico.

His first advert showed the underside rear and it has a BORG WARNER rear axle !!?? not a Timken !! he then removed that picture,  the car also has steel engine mounts but a ali sump, the radiator panel is not notched out as is on a genuine Mexico, also no steel vacuum transfer pipe from the manifold to the brake servo, it has a rubber hose at the rear of the engine, also does not appear to have a fused relay on the passenger side inner wing for the spot lamps.

Not interested in the car, but if that is worth £27k then my 2 owner car has got to be worth closer to £55k+

Don't want to look as though I am picking on someone, but is this a genuine car or a replica.

63 bids to get it to £27k!! no doubt bits and bobs do get changed or replaced over the years.

But if it is a genuine Mexico the write up is pretty poor, I'd have pages of insight if I were to sell mine.

I thought along the same lines, I think he has (or someone has), obtained a "IFFY" reg document & chassis plate (from Ebay), and is making a 2 door car into a mexico look-a-like, too strong money for that in my opinion, think the bids might also be false along with the car. !!??

Looks okay to me, this car is 45 years old and each owner will put a stamp on it. These sudo mexicos were worthless in the early nineties so it's done well to survive and like some of the other overpriced triggers brooms on the scene during these times had low budgets and MOT repairs as daily drivers not restorations during these times.

Both the doors fit terrible and the vin plate looks new to me

They fitted like that from the factory and polished the plates with some mag wheel cleaner ........ oh you mean the car on Ebay?

Was talking to a friend in work last night about this car, and he seems to remember it being on EBAY last year or so as a MEXICO TRIBUTE CAR, as he remembered the reg being quite apt for the cars identity,  I have tried to trace it back but no luck, so it remains a mystery, BUT I suspect it is an Import, especially with it having a BW rear axle, as I am sure no one would swap a Timken for a BW, the other way around poss so, but not that way.

This is a picture from the first time listing, this is not what I would expect from a UK Mexico, I know that "REPLICAS" exist, but I am against selling a replica at the same price as the GENUINE Mexico, he has since removed this picture after I contacted him to ask if it was a UK Mexico, he replied "It is a Genuine UK car, and have had it checked by Fords themselves"

But would you not be "Pi**ed off" if you bought this thinking it was genuine & it was not !!??.

I did mention that to the seller and he said it was a Genuine UK car, then removed that picture from the listing, I do think he knows it's not a genuine Mexico, but is trying to profit from the genuine values of genuine car's, and I think that is naughty & deceitful.

Is that propshaft / diff nose bump stop normally fitted on UK cars as I don't recall ever seeing it and don't think my car has it fitted, if it is?
