  3. Well, it's new to me! My name is Steve and I'm from Mildenhall in Suffolk. Hello! I bought a Mk1 Escort on Saturday, which is my first OSF since 2001. Its a '74 2 door in Sunburst Red imported from South Africa in 2016. The previous owner - an amazing guy called Jack - is a master coachbuilder and he restored the car over lockdown. The car is absolutely flawless (other than needing a new rear betacloth rear seat cover - which I've ordered from Aldridge) and I consider myself very lucky to be the new owner. All the OSFs I ran on the 80's and 90's were less than great, but were still a lot of fun. This one has a Harris 1700 Xflow. I'm looking forward to getting out to shows and events in '23. I will be asking daft questions, so please humour me! Thanks!

  5. Mine is a 1926 Bullnose Morris. I try and use it at weekends and have covered approximately 500 miles this summer which doesnt soud a great deal but at 25-30 mph takes some hours 🙄😁.

  6. Hello everyone, I joined this forum back in 2017 when I first got my rather crusty Mk 1300L . Since then I've spent much of the last 7 years down the garage and I'm afraid that I haven't posted a thing on this forum. So I thought I'd better introduce myself and share a few pics of my journey. I'm Lee from the West Midlands , a 55 year old factory worker and confirmed petrol head . My late Dad introduced me to the world of classic Fords and we attended many shows back in the 80's in his Crayford Corsair 2000GT Convertible . He taught me pretty much everything I know about cars and motorbikes. For the last 20 years or so - I've done several custom bike builds but always hankered after building a Mk1 Escort . Finally I ditched the 3 sheds at the bottom of my garden and built a small workshop where I could build the Mk1 I'd always wanted as a yoof. So , enough waffle about me - here's some pics of what I've been up to for the last 7 years ! Lee

  7. The NEC classic car show 2023 has been busier than ever. Hot on the heels of their stand success over the the 1300E club we thought we would do a group photo. No pets were harmed in the taking of this photo but rabbits were allowed 🤣.

  12. Bit late with this... Brilliant day! Fantastic route, especially down on the coast. Loved the beautiful little villages and beaches. Weather couldn't have been better. Although it pissed down as we arrived back at the camp....at about 8 [emoji854] Because Colr6 and myself kept stopping for tea and scones, most of my pics only have the Escort and Cortina in them!! Well done Vista and Mexican Gerbil for again putting an awesome route together for us. Round trip of about 800 miles inc tour. Brilliant weekend...[emoji109][emoji106][emoji106][emoji3060] Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

  17. As its completely finished now, I've had to take some photographs for my insurers to give a guaranteed valuation so thought I'd share with you I've removed and kept the old basket wave seats. They are in amazing condition so sourced some replacement ones and had them recovered in leather. Same with the dashboard. The original one is in storage and this one recovered in leather The only "gap" that winds me up is the bonnet. When viewed from the left hand side, it's slightly raised on one side. My OCD goes into melt down!

  18. After 8mths off the road, Vista Estate is now back on the road and attended her first show at Scampston Steam Fair near Malton last weekend. It was a great event run by Outdoor Shows Ltd. As well as trade stands and rural displays there were classic trucks, fire engines, stationary engines and tractors along with tractor pulling which is mental ! She was joined by other Escorts to make a nice line up in the ring. Mk2 modified Escort Mk2 1600 Sport Mk3 1600i Mk3 series 1 RS Turbo. Outdoor Shows do a lot of events across the North and beyond. Check them out as attendance is free for classics (and cars too) 🤣

  20. Fathers Day Car Bash Funny thing happened today while at the show. A Fire Engine with lights and sirens comes driving up with an announcement to stand clear that there was a car on fire. With 200 oldies we all look around to see what classic was smoking but the fire engine just drives past into the multi story car park to put out a Tesla! 🤣

  21. We are going to the local classic car show tomorrow, so today I thought I would get Tina out and check she was running ok. As the sun was shining I popped for a quick drive around. It is a while since I was out and I had forgotten how much fun an old car is.

  23. It was great to meet up with the OSF team at NEC yesterday, thanks for the great welcome. I drive a 1974 Mk1 1600GT Estate in Vista Orange. There are very few estates still around so its often a magnet at shows. If any other members see me around, come over for a chat. Hope to be on your stand at some point next year.

  28. What weekend that was 😍 we managed the tour in record time 😂😂😂 Got to the 12-30 lunch break at 15-15. We had more stops than the number 3 bus route! Tea here tea there, cream scones the lot. Consequently we got back to base some 3 hrs after everybody else. A big thanks to the team for arranging such a top drawer event. Weather fantastic, scenery fantastic and as usual great people. 10/10 from me 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Just a note, we managed the 340 ml trip home quicker than the 108 ml tour, not so many cups of tea on the way home….lol We knew we would be last so we took our resident photoman MONZA who will know doubt put up some great pics. His new name is MONZA the KODAK man !!!!

  29. For all our members in the run up to the Christmas break As you sit upon the throne, With everything prepared, You're feeling quite excited but a little bloody scared! That huge amount of Christmas nosh has turned into a log, And now the fateful time has come, to flush it down the bog!.. But first you must expel the beast and so you start to strain, You bite down on a piece of wood to take away the pain. But oh my god, it's bloody huge it's like you're giving birth! You sweat and push and swear and shake and strain for all you're worth. And then that magic moment comes, that fills your soul with cheer, A turd the size of King kong's arm emerges from your rear. And like a bomb it hits the pan thus lightening your mood, And making room inside your guts for lots more Christmas food! Have a great Christmas y'all And no drinking and driving or these guys will be after you!

  36. Hello! New on here but not new to classic Fords. I got my first mk1 Escort in 1992 at the age of 12. My dad and I spent 5 years restoring the car and subsequently it went on to be my daily transport after passing my test. I've owned several mk1 and 2's since. All original base/mid spec. My dream car was an odd one, I didn't hanker after a Mexico or RS2000, I yearned after an original 4 door Tawny Bronze 1300XL with tan vinyl. Yep, I know it's odd... but that's me in a nutshell! In September 2021, after much searching, I found 'the one'. Having covered a mere (documented) 29,750 miles with 4 very careful owners, this unrestored Nov 72 registered example had to come home with me. I carried out some recommissioning then set about preserving and enjoying this special mk1. We've since covered 4,500 smile inducing miles. I look at this beastie every day and still pinch myself the I'm lucky enough to call her my own. Has my dream car met expectations?? You bet it has!

  39. Hi , I am in the middle of making proper tab washers for original crossflow either round or oval air filter housings . These were the tab washers that sat over the filter housing mounting studs on twin choke webber carburettors that held the retaining nuts in place . I couldn’t find any on the market anywhere close to the original Ford ones . I had an original lent to me to be able to copy . I have just got to get them plated now and then fit them to my Mexico . Has anyone else used or seen this type in recent years ? .

  40. By chance I saw a local restoration team had a red Mexico in their work shop. As you will see in the photos the reg numbers are very close to each other and most probably sat in the same dealership at the same time. I asked if I could bring top Banana for a meet and great and some pics, the guys said yes, which was great. When I got there today another class mate, an RS1600 was sat outside too to make a great line up of AVO’s finest. Well chuffed as sister Mex had come down from up country so may never see it again. Clocked the chassis number and it’s within 20 of mine. For sure they were at Aveley together. Also bought some much needed bits for mine as I was pointing saying “I’m missing that” to which the restoration chap replied “ I’ve got one of those” . Happy Days
